Where Can I find Cheap or Free Books to Craft with?
- yard sales, thrift stores & online marketplaces (Etsy, eBay, etc)
- book sales from local libraries (books may be damaged but still can be repurposed)
- ask friends or family
- look for past-dated mini books (like I used) many places discard the old ones to make room for the current issues.
- outdated guidebooks, atlas, and map books (tourist centers)
- dollar stores (many misprinted books or ones missing pages are found here)
- outdated textbooks (ask local schools & colleges)
Try if you can to save them from our landfills! Each piece & page can be repurposed!
Even the smallest pieces can be shredded or made into confetti to reuse them.
Supplies and Materials
- Book pages or your choice of paper pages
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun & sticks
- Canning jar screw band (I used a wide mouth but you can use a regular size one in which you would use fewer pages)
- Pencil
- 11″ RIbbon

Tips for Making Book Page Wreaths that You’ll Love
- Don’t be afraid to “Crunch & Scrunch” those pages! This helps to create a nice full wreath.
- I found if you “Crunch & Shrunch” the pages ahead of time it helps the gluing portion to go quicker & smoother.
- Don’t add the pages on top of each other unless you are creating a larger layered wreath. Because the pages become overcrowded and appear too tight.
How to Make a Mini Book Page Wreath
I used 32 pieces sized 4×6″ in the video on a wide band measuring 9″ across.
You can create a 7″ wreath using a wide metal band, 32 pieces that are around 3×4″ in size.
- Cut approximately 32 pages around 3×4″ or a similar size. They can be cut into squares around that size, as well. (both sizes are shown in the photo above)
2. Lay the metal jar band with the “top side” down onto your covered work surface. You will glue it onto the “lip” part of the band.
3. Take the eraser part of your pencil and place it in the center of the paper and twist.
4. Run a small spot of hot glue on the INSIDE of the metal band. Then take the paper-covered spot on the eraser and apply that part to the glue. Hold it there for a few seconds for better adhesion.
5. Repeat step #4 for a total of 18 times or close to that amount. Spacing them around 1/4″ apart.
6. Move on to the outside of the metal band applying step #3 for a total of approximately 12 times. Spacing them around 1/2″ apart.
7. Turn the band over to the backside place your twine in a loop and glue it onto the band for a hanger
8. Take 11 inches of ribbon and glue it around the backside of the band to cover it along with the spot where you glued it on the twine hanger.
OPTIONAL: You can add any color or print of ribbon or lace instead of twine. Add any type of embellishments you want. You can also “age” the paper before or after you make your wreath. I will show different ways to do that sometime this month.
Friends I want to thank you so much for stopping by. I hope that this post inspires you to create something unique & beautiful that will bring you (or others) JOY! Feel free to comment with any questions and please share with me if you tried this project! I would love to hear from you!
